Steed’s Winged Labrador Retrievers

Bettering the breed

Our story

Hello, welcome to Steeds Winged Labrador Retrievers. My name is Autumn, I run this program with my husband Chase Steed. He and I have always loved this breed. We each have so many memories hunting with this breed and just enjoying having them in our families. We have put in a lot of time and research into the history, purpose, and breed standard of the Labrador Retriever. Here at SWLR we strive to preserve the breed standard while also bringing glory to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  There are now different descriptions when it comes to labs, English/Bench vs American/Field are two of the most descriptive and common. Many think of Field bred labs when they see a smaller built, longer face and legs, fast powerhouse of a lab. The Bench bred, are most commonly known for the dogs you see in dog shows. Much larger, strong built, wide heads shorter muzzles and legs.  When first bred there was no division, There was just a dual purpose lab who could work all day and be an excellent family member in the home at night. We are working to continue to produce this type of lab. All of our labs will have working conformation lines.  We will also prove all of the dogs in our program. What we mean by this, is they will compete in hunt test, shed hunting, & dock diving. While also hunting each season out in the field. Our purposes for this program include, serving the Lord Jesus Christ in all we do with integrity and faithfulness. Providing families with happy, healthy, beautiful companions of the highest quality and standard. Sharing our love for dogs by educating new puppy families with the knowledge we have gained through our own research, experience,  and mentors. As well as exposing your new family member to many environments, noises, and smells, even starting on potty training to accommodate them to their new homes whether they will have hunting lives or just be loving family companions!

"So God created the great creatures of the sea and and every living thing with which the waters teems and the moves about in it, according to their kind's, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. "Genesis 1:21
